RU Prof Dr. Md Zahangir Alam passes away
Dr Md Jahangir Alam, a Professor of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension of Rajshahi University (RU) passed away at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Sunday morning.
He had been undergoing treatment there for lung disease for the last three days. He was 44 years old at the time of his death.
He will be buried at the University Cemetery after the zanaza prayers at the Central Mosque in RU after Magrib prayer on Sunday.
RU Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Abdus Sobhan has expressed deep condolences on behalf of the family of the university.
Prof Dr Md Jahangir Alam was born in 1967 at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna. He received BSc and MSc degrees in Applied Chemistry from RU and PhD degree from Kyushu University in Japan.
He joined at RU as a lecturer in 2004 and was promoted to professor in 2016. He has supervised about 10 Masters level thesises and a few PhD thesises. A significant number of his research papers has been published at home and abroad. He has a wife, a son and a daughter.
